Training of Parish Social Communication Convenor and Secretaries 2023-2025
MANGALURU, AUG 25: To equip parish media representatives with modern communication tools and ethical digital strategies, the Commission for Social Communication of the Mangalore Diocese City Deanery organised a comprehensive training and orientation programme at St Joseph the Worker Church, Vamanjoor, on Tuesday, 25 August 2026.
The session brought together 28 participants representing 10 parishes across the City Deanery. Rev. Fr Kenneth Crasta, Administrator of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor, and Coordinator for the City Deanery, initiated the programme at 3:00 p.m. with an invoking prayer and opening remarks.
KIREM, JULY 04: To equip parish leaders with modern communication skills, the Commission for Social Communication, Kinnigoli Deanery (Mangalore North), organised a comprehensive training session and meeting on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at Shalom Hall, Kirem Church.
The training focused heavily on the modernisation of church administration and media outreach. Rev. Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes, Diocesan Secretary for the Commission for Social Communication, led the session as the primary resource person. He provided an in-depth overview of the roles and responsibilities of parish media teams as outlined in the Diocesan Pastoral Plan.
AUG 01,2026: The Commission for Social Communication of the Episcopal Deanery conducted a comprehensive training and orientation programme for parish media representatives at St. Sebastian Parish Hall, Bendur, on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
🌟AI, Tech, and Teamwork: Parish Media Ministry Reimagined! at St Antony’s Ashram, Jeppu.
MAY 31, 2026: On the 60th World Social Communications Day, 75 dynamic media convenors from 64 parishes gathered at St Antony’s Ashram, Jeppu, for a transformative training seminar!
Fr Anil Ivan Fernandes (Secretary of the Commission & Director, Canara Communication Centre) outlined the mission of the commission and the key responsibilities of parish convenors. The session featured a live demonstration of the "Catholic Connect" app for advanced pastoral outreach, alongside an eye-opening session on using AI tools as assistants for smarter parish content creation! Deanery-Wise Groups took center stage in the second half, sketching out concrete action plans to train, educate, and empower media-literate teams across every parish in the diocese. The inspiring day concluded with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr Naveen Pinto (Coordinator of Diocesan Pastoral Commissions), who reminded everyone to be bridges of communion.
